Jordan Clayton

Artist member since 2018
Toronto, Ontario

Jordan clayton is an award-winning artist who specializes in painting and drawing. His work has been exhibited internationally from the very beginning of practice and is internationally collected by both private and corporate collectors. His work monumentalizes the unseen, the unnoticed, and the alien. He integrates technology, machine learning, collage, and painter’s hand to construct surrealist spaces that bear kafkaesque melancholy. Influenced by nature’s eeriest creatures, both sympatric to and outside of anthropogenic life, he develops the organic into the composited uncanny. These spaces sew an ambiguous narrative that integrates art, technology, science fiction, and queerness. Driven by his experiences as a loner, a weirdo, and a social outcast, Clayton uses the grotesque as a lens to harnesses the beauty found in darkness and alienation.
